There were workshops held in our school, led by students from Sunway University. All the juniors (020 batch) and some of the seniors from our school attended the workshops. There were two main workshops; filming and Music recording.
The workshops were held for four days. I was in the filming workshop. For the filming group, the first thing that we learnt was about functions of a camera and how to control it. Then we learnt how to adjust the light that comes from the camera. We learnt the movement of the camera, namely the Pan, Tilt, Dolly-in and Dolly-out. There were the handles of the camera when we took photos or videos.
Moreover, we learnt how to use Rule of thirds, Leading lines and framing. They were very important when we take photos because it makes the photos more interesting and better.
Apart of it, we also learnt about how to arrange the light when we take photos or videos such as Key light, Fill light and Back/Hair light. They make the photos or the videos clearer or make the subjects sharper.
We also learnt Frame Rates and Aspect Ratio as well. Frame Rates is the speed of the camera to capture a certain number of pictures per second; if we want to make it slower, we have to make the frame higher. Aspect ratio was the thing that makes the screen bigger or smaller. Last but no least, we took photos with all that the teachers had taught us about cameras, and we also tried out with their cameras.
Music recording was the other workshop. First, the students learnt a new song called "Into The Unknown". Then they learnt about recording studios; how the equipment are handled and how they work. They also learnt how to record songs on their own. Then they also learnt how to compose songs and make the lyrics more interesting.
Through this workshop, I understand more about camera and it makes me more interested in photography. During the workshop, the teachers were friendly; when they taught us, they made sure to make us understand. If did not understand, they taught us over and over again.
I am really thankful to students from Sunway University for conducting us, for contributing their knowledge and skills to us without any cost taken from us. I give thanks to God for their time and for the opportunity to learn. I hope that they will continue their good deeds to others people.
